Abbreviations:
ss - slip stitch / sc - single crochet / hdc - half double crochet
Case 1 (white base + pink crocheted ribbon)
Make a slip knot and chain the desired width for the case
Row 1 - skip the 1st chain, insert 1 hdc into every chain
Row 2 onwards - chain 1 and turn your work to start a new row then insert 1 hdc into every stitch
Crochet rows of 1 hdc in every stitch until the case is the desired size + a few rows to build the flap
Crochet 2-3 more rows of 1 hdc in every stitch BUT hdc the first and last 2 stitches together to make a curved edge for the bottom of the flap
Chain 1 then fasten off
Crochet the ribbon strings - make a slip knot then chain the desired length for the string, skip the 1st chain then insert 1 sc into every chain, fasten off here or crochet another row of sc to make the string thicker
Make 2 ribbon strings then attach them onto the bottom of the flap and middle of the case. Tie the strings into a bow to open/close the case!
Case 2 (pink base + dainty ruffle edge + ribbon bow)
Make a slip knot and chain the desired width for the case
Round 1 - skip the 1st chain, insert 1 sc into every chain, insert 3 sc into the last chain, insert 1 sc into the back loops of every chain, insert 2 sc in the last back loop, start the next round by inserting 1 sc into the very 1st sc stitch from the beginning...
Round 2 onwards - insert 1 sc in every stitch all the way around
Crochet 2-4 rows for the flap - insert 1 sc in every stitch from one corner to the other corner (NOT all the way around!), chain 1 and turn your work to start a new row then repeat
To make the curved edge for the flap - continue crocheting rows of 1 sc in every stitch BUT sc the first and last 2 stitches together at the start and end of each row
Chain 1 then fasten off to end the flap
To make the ruffle edge - attach the yarn in one corner, chain 1 then sc into the same space, repeat until you reach the next corner *chain 3, skip a space/stitch, sc into the next space/stitch*, chain 1 then fasten off to end your work
Insert your hook into the middle of the case and pull a ribbon through. Then, insert the ribbon through the middle holes in the ruffle edge and tie into a bow to open/close your flap!
I hope you love your new stationary cases!
