how to crochet cute photo frames (miffy, camera, & flower) | step-by-step tutorial + free pattern

Hi everyone! This is a quick and easy crochet project that's perfect for adding new decor to your room for spring. Remember to choose colors that make you happy and fill these photo frames with your favourite memories :) Video tutorials and demonstrations are on my youtube channel.

1. Back panel

Make a slip knot, then chain the desired width (make sure it's slightly wider than the picture you're making the frame for)

Chain 1 (turning chain, doesn't count as a stitch), skip the 1st chain then insert 1 sc in every chain to make the 1st row. Turn your work, then insert 1 sc in every stitch to make a new row.

Crochet rows of sc until you have the desired length (slightly longer than your picture) then fasten off to complete

2. Front panel

Decide/calculate the following numbers:

- Number of rows in the top and bottom sections

- Number of stitches in the sides (more stitches to make the border thicker and less stitches to make it thinner)

- Number of rows for both sides (1st side is 1 less than the 2nd side)

Make a slip knot, chain the same number as the back panel, insert 1 sc in every chain to crochet the 1st row

Crochet the number of rows for the bottom section

Crochet the number of stitches + rows for the 1st side, then fasten off

Attach the yarn on the other side, then crochet the number of rows for the 2nd side

Chain the number calculated, then insert 1 sc in every stitch on the 1st side to join

Turn your work, then insert 1 sc into every stitch AND chain to make the 1st row for the top section

Crochet rows for the top section, then join the front and back panels together (for miffy + camera design)

3. Miffy/bunny ears frame

Back panel - 12 stitches, 18 rows

Front panel - bottom and top sections have 3 rows each, sides are 3 stitches wide, 1st side is 11 rows, 2nd side is 12 rows, 6 chains in the middle

After completing the front panel, crochet 2 more rows:

- 2 decreases (sc 2 stitches together 2 times), then insert 1 sc in every stitch until you have 4 stitches left. Next, 2 decreases (sc 2 stitches together 2 times) to end this row

- 1 decrease (sc 2 stitches together), then insert 1 sc in every stitch until you have 2 stitches left. Next, 2 decreases (sc 2 stitches together) to end this row

- Fasten off

Attach the yarn on one side (make sure there's 1 stitch on both sides of the chosen stitch)

- Chain the desired length for the ear

- Sc in every chain, then ss to join

- Turn your work then sc in every stitch all around the ear

- ss to join on the other side, then fasten off

- Repeat on the other side to make the 2nd ear

4. Camera frame

Back panel - 13 stitches, 21 rows

Front panel - bottom section has 6 rows, top section has 3 rows, sides are 3 stitches wide, 1st side is 11 rows, 2nd side is 12 rows, 7 chains in the middle

Mini rectangle - make a slip knot, chain the desired width, skip the 1st chain, sc into every chain, fasten off, or crochet another row of sc to make it longer

Mini circles - make a magic ring, insert 3 to 6 sc depending on how big you want the circle to be, ss into the 1st stitch, then fasten off

5. Flower border frame

Crochet the front and back panels, then join the two panels together by inserting your hook through the edges of both and repeating the following pattern:

5 dc in one space, ss into the next space
