how to crochet a cute bunny holding a heart | amigurumi tutorial (no magic ring!) + free pattern
Hi everyone! This is the written pattern for my youtube tutorial (please refer to it for all the demonstrations). I've included timestamps from the video so you can refer to video demonstrations if you're confused about a specific part. If you've never crocheted a plushie before, I also recommend taking the time to go through my guide to amigurumi video first which will help you understand how it works.
Abbreviations & terminology
ss - slip stitch / sc - single crochet / increase - 2 sc in the SAME stitch / work in continuous rounds and use a stitch marker/bobby pin to mark the first stitch of every round
Part 1: Head
Start by making a slip knot, chain 4, ss into the first chain, insert the stitches into the the circle formed between the chains ( 1:11 in video)
Section 1 - increase rounds (1:59 in video)
Round 1 (total 8): 8 sc
Round 2 (total 16): 2 sc in every stitch
Round 3 (total 24): 1 sc, increase
Round 4 (total 32): 2 sc, increase
Round 5 (total 40): 3 sc, increase
Round 6 (total 48): 4 sc, increase
Section 2 - 11 repeat rounds (8:26 in video)
Rounds 7 to 17 (total 48 stitches in all of these rounds): 1 sc in every stitch
Section 3 - decrease rounds (10:05 in video)
Round 18 (total 40): 4 sc, decrease
Round 19 (total 32): 3 sc, decrease
Round 20 (total 24): 2 sc, decrease
Round 21 (total 16): 1 sc, decrease / ss into the stitch where your stitch marker/bobby pin is then fasten off (cut and pull)
Part 2: Body (make 2 legs)
Start by making a slip knot, chain 4, ss into the first chain, insert the stitches into the the circle formed between the chains ( 1:11 in video)
Legs Section 1 - increase rounds (13:09 in video)
Round 1 (total 8): 8 sc
Round 2 (total 16): 2 sc in every stitch
Round 3 (total 24): 1 sc, increase
Legs Section 2 - 3 repeat rounds
Rounds 4 to 6 (total 24 stitches in all of these rounds): 1 sc in every stitch
Body Section 3 - 9 repeat rounds ( join the legs together by following 16:27 in video)
Round 7 to 16 (total 48 stitches in all of these rounds): 1 sc in every stitch
Body Section 4 - decrease + repeat rounds (19:43 in video)
Round 17 (total 40): 4 sc, decrease
Round 18 (total 40): 1 sc in every stitch
Round 19 (total 32): 3 sc, decrease
Round 20 (total 32): 1 sc in every stitch
Round 21 (total 24): 2 sc, decrease
Round 22 (total 24): 1 sc in every stitch
Round 23 (total 16): 1 sc, decrease / ss into the stitch where your stitch marker/bobby pin is then fasten off (cut and pull)
Part 3: Hands (make 2)
Start by making a slip knot, chain 4, ss into the first chain, insert the stitches into the the circle formed between the chains ( 1:11 in video)
Section 1 - increase rounds
Round 1 (total 8): 8 sc
Round 2 (total 16): 2 sc in every stitch
Section 2 - 2 repeat rounds
Rounds 3 and 4 (total 16 stitches in all of these rounds): 1 sc in every stitch
Section 3 - decrease + repeat rounds
Round 5 (total 12): 2 sc, decrease
Round 6 and 7 (total 12 stitches in all of these rounds): 1 sc in every stitch
Ss along the edge to close the hands (22:33 in video)
Part 4: Heart
Start by making a slip knot, chain 4, ss into the first chain, insert the stitches into the the circle formed between the chains ( 1:11 in video)
Section 1 - make 2 top pieces (23:57 in video)
Round 1 (total 6): 6 sc
Round 2 (total 12): 2 sc in every stitch (increases)
Round 3 (total 12): 1 sc in every stitch (repeat round)
Join the 2 top pieces together by watching this part of the video 25:07
Round 4 and 5 (total 24): 1 sc in every stitch
Round 6 (total 18): 2 sc, decrease
Round 7 (total 12): 1 sc, decrease
Round 8 (total 6): decrease in every stitch
End your work with decreases (27:28 in video)
Part 5: Ears (make 2)
Start by making a slip knot, chain 4, ss into the first chain, insert the stitches into the the circle formed between the chains ( 1:11 in video)
Section 1 - increase rounds
Round 1 (total 8): 8 sc
Round 2 (total 16): 2 sc in every stitch
Round 3 (total 24): 1 sc, increase
Section 2 - 17 repeat rounds
Rounds 4 to 21 (total 24): 1 sc in every stitch
Section 3 - decrease + repeat rounds
Round 22 (total 18): 2 sc, decrease
Round 23 (total 18): 1 sc in every stitch
Round 24 (total 12): 1 sc, decrease
Round 25 and 26 (total 12): 1 sc in every stitch

ReplyDelete@mahum, can I use 4ply milk cotton yarn with this pattern? If so, can the pattern be adjusted for the plushie to be bigger because I don't have fluffy yarn and I want to finish this as soon as possible because it is a gift for a Friend,
