how to crochet a cute & cozy teddy bear | free pattern + video tutorial (NO magic ring!)


Hi everyone! This is the written pattern for my youtube tutorial. Please watch the demonstrations in the video before following the pattern. Share your work with me and my community using #crochetwithmahum on all social media platforms, happy crafting!

Abbreviations:

ss - slip stitch / sc - single crochet / increase - 2 sc in the same stitch / fake magic ring - make a slip knot, chain 3, ss into the 1st chain, chain, then insert round 1 into the circle formed between the chains OR make a regular magic ring 

1. Head

Round 1 - 8 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (16)

Round 3 - 1 sc, increase (24)

Round 4 - 2 sc, increase (32)

Round 5 - 3 sc, increase (40)

Round 6 to 13 - 1 sc in every stitch (40 in each round)

Round 14 - 3 sc, decrease (32)

Round 15 - 2 sc, decrease (24)

Round 16 - 1 sc, decrease (16)

Round 17 - 8 decreases

Face (embroider the nose then sew onto the head)

Round 1 - 8 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (16)

2. Hat

Round 1 - 8 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (16)

Round 3 - 1 sc, increase (24)

Round 4 - 2 sc, increase (32)

Round 5 - 3 sc, increase (40)

Round 6 - 4 sc, increase (48)

Round 7 to 13 - 1 sc in every stitch (48 in each round)

Round 14 - 3 sc, decrease (you can also do *4 sc, decrease* but I prefer *3 sc, decrease* because it's tighter around the head)

Round 15 - 1 sc in every stitch (I didn't keep track of stitch count here)

3. Body

Round 1 - 8 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (16)

Round 3 - 1 sc, increase (24)

Round 4 - 2 sc, increase (32)

Round 5 - 3 sc, increase (40)

Round 6 to 13 - 1 sc in every stitch (40 in each round)

Round 14 - 3 sc, decrease (32)

Round 15 - 1 sc in every stitch (32)

Round 16 - 2 sc, decrease (24)

4. Arms

Round 1 - 6 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (12)

Round 3 to 8 - 1 sc in every stitch (12)

Round 9 - 6 decreases 

Round 10 - 1 sc in every stitch (6)

5. Legs

Round 1 - 8 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (16)

Round 3 to 5 - 1 sc in every stitch (16)

6. Ears

Round 1 - 8 sc

Round 2 - 2 sc in every stitch (16)

Round 3 - 1 sc in every stitch (16)

7. Cherries and Bow

Round 1 - 6 sc

Round 2 - 1 sc, increase (9)

Round 3 - 1 sc, decrease (6)

Decrease then ss to close the hole and fasten off

Make a slip knot and chain 70+ then fasten off to make the stem

Attach the cherries onto the ends of the stem and tie it into a bow around the bear :)

This is a very repetitive pattern, so follow the same steps shown to crochet all the rounds. Once you're done, you can add some ribbons & bows to make your bunny look even cuter - happy crocheting! Hi everyone! Here's the written pattern for rounds 1-12 of my heart cushion cover. You can find the demonstration/steps for rounds 1-5 and  how to read this pattern and make the stitches in my youtube tutorial . Abbreviations: ch - chain / sc - single crochet / hdc - half double crochet / dc - double crochet / ss - slip stitch Please note that  the steps on ending each round and attaching a new color to your work  (ss + ch 1)  are explained with demonstrations in my youtube tutorial.
